Via QR code to the food distribution point
OpenFastLane
OpenFastLane is a digital tool for social organisations that makes it easier to check and manage people’s entitlements. Personalised QR codes can be used to quickly and efficiently check eligibility for certain services (e.g. food parcels, vouchers, etc.). This saves employees and clients time. This makes social organisations more effective and service-oriented and improves the quality of life of disadvantaged people.

Who is it for?
Volkshilfe Wien distributes parcels of non-perishable food once a week. People who live in Vienna and have a household income below the poverty line are eligible. A household can receive a parcel once a month.
Currently, 250 parcels/week can be distributed. A digital tool should help to optimise the process so that the waiting time is significantly reduced.
How does it work?
Clients register and employees check their eligibility. A personalised QR code is then generated and sent to the client by email or printed out.
When picking up a meal pack, the QR code is scanned on site to check eligibility. It is possible to create different types of entitlements.

Problem solution target group 1: Households affected by poverty
A household affected by poverty can register with Volkshilfe Wien and only has to provide proof of eligibility once a year. Using the QR code provided, a food parcel can be collected without having to prove eligibility every month. The quick processing reduces the waiting time at the distribution point.
Problem solving target group 2: Employees
The employees at the issuing centre no longer have to check documents and enter the data manually into an Excel spreadsheet. By using a QR code, only one employee is needed to check eligibility, which is done very quickly by scanning. For billing and documentation purposes, all data is already correctly recorded due to the previous registration.
